CINEMATOGRAPHER — Julian Robinet is based in Berlin and Cape Town whose work is driven by a fascination with elements in motion. His career began with a passion for film that he channeled into shooting sports clips as a young windsurfer, a foundation that continues to inform his dynamic visual style—ranging from raw, honest handheld work to beautifully composed, motion-driven imagery.

As a director of photography, Julian lends his aesthetic to commercials, documentaries, and sports films that take him around the world, from Iceland to South Africa. Deeply influenced by music, nature, and cycling, his creativity extends beyond the lens. He is the founder of Community Connect, a Cape Town-based bike-sharing program supported by Standert Bicycles, and the organizer of Road to Desolation, a gravel race in the heart of the Karoo.

Whether collaborating with fellow artists or building community through his personal projects, Julian approaches his work with the same collective spirit and joy he had from the very beginning.
