Based between Berlin and Cape Town, Julian Robinet is a Director of Photography defined by a fascination with movement. His aesthetic—a blend of raw, handheld honesty and meticulously composed imagery—evolved from his early days filming windsurfing clips as a teenager. Today, he brings that same kinetic energy to global commercials, documentaries, and sports films.
Julian’s creative output is deeply rooted in the environments he inhabits. An avid cyclist and nature lover, he is the founder of the Cape Town bike-sharing initiative Community Connect and the organizer of the Road to Desolation gravel race. Whether behind the lens or building community, Julian’s work is fueled by a collaborative spirit and the same authentic joy that first sparked his passion for film.
